GirlGenius held their first virtual conference on July 5th, 2020, and we're so glad we could attend!
The conference had over 2,000 attendees, and the class topics ranged from an intro to AR/VR to how to land an internship.
Here's some things we took away from the conference:
🚺 Networking - it's important to network with other young women who have similar interests to you. Maybe you can collaborate or form partnerships with your organizations in the future!
💻 Research - before diving into a new hobby, it's important to know what you're getting yourself into! Have a specific goal in mind. If you want to learn about Robotics, for example, try to narrow it down further. Do you want to work on hardware or software? Which programs do you want to become skilled in?
🌟 Start Today - one month from today, you can either have a month or progress or a month of excuses. Take small steps, start researching, but keep moving! You got this! :)
💙 Community - use programs like LinkedIn or Slack to form a community of people with similar interests. This will help determine prospects for future cold-emailing or sponsorship/partnership requests! Make sure to reach out when you need it - most people are always willing to share their experiences and offer advice!
Thank you, GirlGenius, we loved the 2020 Virtual Conference and look forward to working with you in the future! ✈
